Robyn the Researcher.
If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
Want to change the world?
There's nothing to it…
~Anthony Newley / Leslie Bricusse (Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka)
I have always been idealistic, not viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, but consistently aspiring for a better way to do things. A better answer for education…
My name is Robyn, and I am an assistant professor of early childhood education in the Teacher Education Department of the College of Education at The University of Texas at El Paso. I completed my Ph.D. in education at Southern Methodist University in 2023, my M.Ed. in educational policy and leadership from Southern Methodist University in 2018, and my B.A. in interdisciplinary studies with a specialization in early childhood education from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2010. I served as an early childhood and elementary special education teacher for nine years before becoming an elementary assistant principal and then transitioning into higher education.
My specific interests are in early childhood mathematics, spatial reasoning, and teaching practices. I explore these areas by attending to the intersectionality of young children’s opportunities to learn, teachers’ knowledge of spatial reasoning and mathematics content, and educational leadership specifically for early childhood teachers.
